Structural Integrity Monitoring

SHM (Structural Health Monitoring) can be defined as the process of implementing a strategy for characterizing and detecting damage to engineering structures, such as equipment, bridges and buildings.

Using on-board sensors (strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, etc.), which help with continuous observation over a certain period, it is possible to analyze the real state of the monitored structure.

To this end, Kot uses Digital Twins technology, i.e. complex virtual models that function as replicas of real physical assets, providing monitoring and planning of maintenance routines.

Among the benefits of using SHM, it is important to highlight the reduction in the need for maintenance and the increase in the useful life of the monitored structure. Consequently, there is greater safety for the people involved and lower related costs.
