ULTRASOUND
The non-destructive ultrasound testing consists of detecting internal discontinuities in the materials, which are not visible to the eye, but may present a serious risk to the structure.
Ultrasonic devices generates waves with frequencies greater than 20 kHz and when these waves encounter some obstacle in the propagation medium, such as a crack, for example, it occurs the phenomenon of reflection of these waves, which are captured by the equipment.
Ultrasound testing has been proved to be of extreme industrial importance, for providing:
- Invisible and critical structure failures identification;
- Operator safety;
- Non destructive tests (NDT);
- Reliable results.
The current applications of ultrasound are diverse: weld beads, laminated, forged or cast pieces, metal alloys, ceramics, rubber, composite materials.
