Analysis of Civil Structures

Kot Engenharia carries out structural analysis, dimensioning and detailing of civil structures. This segment includes equipment bases, shallow and deep foundations, as well as buildings and Special Structures, such as bridges and viaducts.

Structures are checked, optimized and adjusted in accordance with current national and international standards. In addition to traditional static analyses, Kot has extensive expertise in the dynamics of concrete structures, such as rotating equipment bases and homogeneous or mixed bridges (in reinforced concrete and steel). Stability and mechanical strength levels are also checked, including connection and flexibility analyses, such as when launching bridges.

When it comes to designing bridges (whether concrete, steel or mixed structures), structural optimization aimed at reducing weight results in lower construction costs. Structural stresses that involve significant load variations, with an impact on the fatigue calculation, are evaluated in detail, allowing the useful life of the structure to be estimated. Full web beams are carefully evaluated from the point of view of web buckling and shear. Numerical analyses are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the standards, so that suitable longitudinal and transverse stiffeners can be designed to maintain the stability of the panels.

For greater precision and control of the reinforced concrete calculation process, Kot has developed specific software which, in addition to the detailed evaluation of all the limit states associated with the calculation of reinforced concrete, allows for the complete determination of structural behavior by means of análise por elementos finitos.Examples of structures in which dynamic loads are significant, such as towers and tall buildings subjected to wind loads, are commonly studied using this analysis.
