Kot Engenharia

Bulk Handling Machines

Kot Engenharia has extensive experience in solutions for bulk handling equipment, such as forklifts, reclaimers, belt conveyors, silos and transfer houses.

  • Checks on the travel drive system;
  • Swivel drive;
  • Bearing and bogie checks;
  • Balancing the equipment;
  • Calculation of the boom conveyor;
  • Calculation of the pressures in the lifting cylinder;
  • Shock calculation against the battery;
  • Pile cutting calculation (for machines with bucket wheels).

Kot also works on modifications aimed at increasing production capacity and analyzing possible failures in this equipment.

BELT CONVEYORS

The calculation of belt conveyors involves various aspects, both structural and mechanical.
The loads from the drive system are calculated using native tools and commercial tools such as the Australian software HELIX, which uses the ISO-5048 and CEMA standards. This software allows time histories to be obtained for various conveyor start and stop conditions, allowing the mechanical drive system to be checked, including motors, gearboxes, couplings, drums, rollers and shafts.
The synchronization of equipment in systems involving several conveyors can be done accurately with HELIX Delta T. The Structural Calculation conveyors can be done with Procal3D, Nastran or Ansys software.

WAGON PUSHERS AND TURNERS

The services for wagon pushers and turners mainly cover the repowering and analysis of these assets.
In the case of wagon pushers, the dynamic loads are significant for their correct sizing. In order to make it easier to determine these loads, as well as to efficiently analyze the equipment, Kot has developed specific software for dynamic simulation. This software takes into account coupling clearances, coupling dampers and the rigidity of the wagon, resulting in a good correlation between the model and experimental results.
Wagon tippers, on the other hand, are pieces of equipment responsible for unloading the bulk material transported in railway trains. The analysis of this equipment is carried out according to the criteria of the ISO 5049-1 and FEM Section II standards.

SILOS

Silos are structures designed for the storage of bulk material, usually lined internally with wear plates to protect the side. The checks carried out are based on the criteria of international standards such as BS EN 1991-4/2006 and AS-3774/1996. The overall instability of the structure must also be checked, especially under wind loads and when there is a possibility of vacuum or negative pressures inside the silo.
