Vibration Analysis and Structural Dynamics

The subject of vibrations and dynamics of structures covers the study and analysis of structures subjected to cyclic loading, at frequencies close to the natural modes of the structure, due to the possibility of high vibration amplitudes.

The operational risk lies in the fact that the dynamic loads resulting from these vibrations can be significant, generating stresses on the structure above those predicted in the static calculation, accelerating the process of structural degradation, or even leading to collapse.
Examples of structures in which dynamic loads are significant, such as towers and tall buildings, subjected to loads from wind action, are commonly the subject of this analysis. The calculations that Kot Engenharia involving structural dynamics cover modal extraction, forced vibration, harmonic analysis, spectral analysis, and modal superposition.

ODS TECHNICAL

One way of obtaining data for the dynamic analysis of a structure is through the ODS (Operational Deflection Shape) technique. This can be done using a proprietary camera in which each pixel is converted into a motion sensor and millions of measurements are obtained. In this way, movements that are invisible to the naked eye are converted to a visible level and a mathematical treatment of the phenomenon is carried out. The results are related to computer simulation to obtain analysis and conclusions about the dynamic stresses during equipment operation.
