Magnetic Particle (PM)
Non-destructive magnetic particle (NMP) testing is used to locate surface and subsurface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials, making it possible to detect defects such as cracks, weld cracks, cold joints, inclusions, bends, among others.
Based on magnetic principles, magnetic particles are attracted to the location of the surface that contains a discontinuity, forming a clear indication of the defect. Portable machines are used to carry out this test.
The advantages of this inspection include the fact that it is a simple, fast and efficient method of observing surface and subsurface discontinuities in structures, without causing damage to the asset. In this way, it is possible to prevent further damage from occurring.
